The 2008 National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) Training Summit will help promote interaction between Federal, State, local and tribal governments, the private sector, non-profit organizations, and academia for the purpose of enhancing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of those involved in the management or delivery of public health and medical care during disaster of every origin. Expert faculty will present on key topics such as clinical care, public health, and disaster response. Networking with these expert faculty members as well as many of the nation's leaders in the field of emergency management, will give participants access to the latest in emergency response and coordination capabilities.
An annual education and training event that supports the development of the NDMS, State and local systems, and serves as a National clearinghouse for emergency, health, and medical service expertise.

The Summit is structured where participants will be able to interact with faculty. The sessions have been designed in tracks emphasizing different perspectives in emergency management. The general and joint sessions are designed to encourage networking and the building of communities of practice among groups sharing common interests and issues.
The Summit is designed for physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, infectious disease specialists/epidemiologist, veterinarians, emergency medical services personnel, morticians, environmental health specialists, dentists, health care administrators, State and local public health officials, emergency managers, emergency planners, public health workers, and response team personnel.
